A Eurovision fanatic, who’s watched the show live from destinations around the globe, believes that he is the reason why Eurovision fever has swept the nation.
It goes without saying that there are a lot of huge admirers of the show, but Kevin Sherwin from Aberdeen, Scotland, might be the biggest of the lot.
In a candid interview on This Morning, the die-hard supporter blew everyone away by revealing his interactions with the former Prime minister.

He explained to host Holly Willoughby: “Just after the last contest finished, it was obvious it wasn’t going to take place in Ukraine. I think Spain and Sweden threw their hat in the ring, and I thought, ‘We came second; we should throw our hat in the ring.'”
He continued: “So, I emailed Boris Johnson at Number 10 Downing Street, and I got an email back from the office of sport and culture, and they said: ‘We hope Ukraine will still be able to host the contest. But we’ll bear it in mind.’ They kept their cards close to their chest.”
And in either a complete coincidence or a genuine acknowledgement of his expertise, Eurovision announced that the show was coming to Liverpool.
Kevin added: “You have me to thank.”
With a whopping total of 23, soon to be 24, grand finals under his belt, at this point, Kevin is just as much a part of the event as any of the acts.
His journey began all the way back to when he was just nine years old, watching Cliff Richard perform ‘Congratulations’ in 1968.
However, it wasn’t until 1984 that he actually experienced the whole thing in person.
Upon seeing the opportunity to purchase a ticket for the final in Dublin, he couldn’t resist taking the plunge.
He laughed: “I had to wear a dinner suit; it was all dinner suites in those days. I looked like a young James Bond.”
And while it’s cost him a lot of money, the Scot believes it’s worth every penny.
He claimed: “I would hate to think about how much I’ve spent on flights, accommodation and tickets. But you get to go to places all around the world. I’ve been to Estonia, Lisbon, Moscow, Tel Aviv.”
And his time in and around the carnival-like contest has allowed him to mix with a plethora of famous faces.
The cameras panned to an image of Kevin with the late Terry Wogan.
The guest claimed: “That was taken in Estonia in 2002. He was a really lovely guy. But there was one person who didn’t like him, and that was the director general of Danish television. In 2001, while doing his commentary, he introduced the hosts as Dr Death and The Little Mermaid. They took exception to this, and they put a complaint in, so the BBC had to write an official apology to Danish TV.
“And Terry, who I’ve met a few times, says, ‘I can never go back to Copenhagen because they’ll lynch me’.
But as much as he loves the contest, he doesn’t think the UK have much chance of bagging the gold.
When asked who he thinks will win, Kevin replied, simply: “Austria.”
