Kieran explained: “It was a wrong place wrong time thing. I was lucky, it was at a party and there was an argument. I got stabbed in 2009 and nothing has really changed. People are still leaving their houses with knives, I don’t know what has happened in the last few years.

“When I got stabbed it was rarer, whereas every other day you will hear something new.

“I was lucky, but I got stabbed in the chest, I had a punctured lung and was in intensive care. When you have an injury like that, you get the shock then the reality hits you, then the physical recovery and the mental recovery as well.

“Though the loss of my mum is purely emotional, but I suffered much more with the loss of my mum than being stabbed 100%.

“I was one of the lucky ones s and it was nearly 14 years ago.”

Speaking further about his PTSD experience, Kieran said: “I didn’t know I suffered from PTSD at all when I was younger and I lost my nephew, I just went off the rails, no one is designed to bury a baby. the stabbing was a life-changing circumstance for me and never got help at the tie until the very last knock-in.

“Then when I lost my mum it consumed me and I had suicidal thoughts, they’re all very different types of trauma, but they all follow similar patterns, which is PTSD really.

“When I look back now after my lowest points, I just thought yeah there is light at the end of the tunnel and you have to get help. Luckily I came out the other way but I’ve had close calls in life, where I wouldn’t be here, so if we can help people and raise awareness then would mean a lot.”
