Home and Away fans ‘expose’ show budget as they spot surprising detail in police uniform

Home and Away fans spotted a shocking detail on a police officer’s uniform during Monday’s instalment (May 15) of the Channel 5 soap.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed it when Justin Morgan (James Stewart) begged Summer Bay police officer Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier) to help him find his daughter (Annabel Wolfe), who he believed had been kidnapped.

Walking into the diner, Rose was teamed with a new policeman who didn’t have any lines, but that didn’t stop fans from noticing something surprising about his name badge.

It read “A. Rosetta”, which likely referred to the character Angelo Rosetta, played by Luke Jacobz from 2008 until 2011.

The actor, 42, reprised the role in 2020 when Angelo returned to investigate the murder of Ross Nixon (Justin Rosniak), but left after a few months and hasn’t been seen in the Bay since.

Taking to social media to point out the blunder, one fan wrote: “Nothing like a bit of recycling” as another added: “I guess the point is, they use the same prop for multiple people.”

While a third suggested the new policeman could be related to the former character.

Also during Monday’s episode, John Palmer (Shane Withington) took his anger out on Mali Hudson (Kyle Shilling) when he discovered Dean Thompson (Paddy O’Connor) and Ziggy Astoni (Sophie Dillman) left Summer Bay without saying goodbye.

The real-life couple, who’s final scenes aired on May 5, exclusively told Daily Star that their time on the Australian soap was the “best of their lives”.

Paddy, 30, who made his debut as Dean in 2018, said: “We had spent most of our 20s working there and we covered so many storylines.

“It happens to everyone, when you move into your 30s you do think about the future and we both wanted to live overseas.

“They told us that the pregnancy storyline was going to be the way that we go and then when that came around it all kind of fell into place.”

“It felt right,” chimed Sophie, who made her first appearance as Ziggy in 2017.

The former River Boy admitted: “It was sad though,” as Sophie, 29, agreed: “Yeah, we cried a lot.”

The blonde beauty added: “We miss everyone everyday. It was the best years of our lives but it was time.”
