Tina Turner’s eye-watering net worth as star dies aged 83 after long illness

Tina Turner has died at the age of 83 after suffering with a long illness, her representatives have confirmed.

The late star’s eye-watering net worth is reportedly around the £200m mark.

The legendary singer amassed a huge fortune during her incredible career which spanned over five decades, kickstarting with her first record Boxtop in 1958.

Tina first landed in the spotlight as the lead singer of duo Ike & Tina Turner Revue, before splitting from him and launching her career as a solo artist, dubbed “one of the greatest comebacks in music history.”

The pair became “one of the most formidable live acts in history,” releasing hits including Proud Mary and River Deep – Mountain High, which currently sits at number 33 song on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.

She went on to release six successful solo albums; Private Dancer, What’s Love Got to Do with it, Tina Live, Foreign Affair, Wildest Dreams and Break Every Rule.

The Proud Mary hitmaker appeared on the second cover of Rolling Stone in 1967, making her the first black and female artist to do so.

With 12 Grammy Awards and 100 million records sold worldwide, the American-born Swiss star is one of the best-selling female artists in the music industry.

She also earned three Grammy Hall of Fame awards as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Singing was one of Tina’s many talents as she also starred in several films such as 1975 film Tommy, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) as well as the 1993 biopic based on her own life, What’s Love Got to Do With It.

Tina passed away at her home in Zurich in the heart of Switzerland.

A statement announcing her death read: “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
