Eamonn Holmes’ bombshell Schofield interview — ‘queuegate’ lie and ‘rehearsed’ coming out

In the second part of his no-holds-barred interview, Eamonn Holmes dropped even more bombshells about Phillip Scofield.

On Monday (May 29) the 63-year-old spoke to GB News about his relationship with his former co-star Phillip, amid the wake of his “unwise but not illegal” affair.

And on Tuesday (May 30) the second part of the bombshell interview was released and it’s fair to say he did not hold back yet again.

Speaking to host Dan Wootton, Eamonn sat down in an attempt to expose even more alleged tales about the 61-year-old former national treasure — who recently resigned from ITV and was dropped by his agent of 35 years.

From “lying” about the infamous ‘queuegate’ scandal to feeling “used” in Phillip’s coming out announcement, Daily Star is taking a look at the biggest bombshells from Eamonn’s interview.

‘Choreographed’ coming out announcement

Eamonn said he felt ‘used’ in Phillip’s coming out announcement

In another bombshell, Eamonn also claimed he was lied to about Phillip’s coming out story on the hit ITV show.

According to Eamonn, he had not been told why Phillip would be sitting with them on the day he made the announcement — with the GB News host claiming ITV bosses told him Phillip “had something to say.”

Eamonn then recalled how Phillip came into his dressing gown before going live — where he “fell down to his knees” to announce he was gay.

As filming was about to begin for his announcement, Eamonn claimed producers asked several times if he and Ruth wanted a script — something he said gave him “bad vibes.”

Bosses then panned to Holly and Phil on the screen, with Eamonn branding their segment as “choreographed” and “false.”

“Then we notice, The Sun newspaper’s here, so the story was sold to them. The director of daytime was there, the editor was there, the agents YMU were there,’ and we began to feel… this is not our show at all,” he said.

“It then materialises that all is not as it seems.”

Eamonn then went on to accuse Phillip of “doing a deal with the newspapers,” — this was to apparently put out a “version” of events.

‘Lying’ about ‘Queuegate’

Eamonn also addressed the ‘Queuegate’ scandal surrounding Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

When working at This Morning, Phillip and his co-star Holly sparked backlash after they were perceived to be jumping the queue when they paid their respects to the late Queen while she was laying in state.

The pair reassured viewers at the time that they were escorted to a separate press platform at the back of the hall and stressed that they would never have taken someone’s place in the queue.

Speaking about the controversial moment, Eamonn said: “They were there to make a film on the Queen’s funeral. Have you seen the film?

Dan replied: “There was no film was there?” to which Eamonn added: “Apparently they were there.”

Eamonn claimed it was a ‘lie’

Dan responded, “There was no camera” as Eamonn continued: “Well they were there.

“That’s the official line given by the editor of the programme that they were there to make a film but unless there’s any documentary evidence of this, I would put it to you that this is another lie.

“So Phillip Scofield admits he lies. ITV lie.”

5G scandal

Eamonn also spoke out about the backlash he faced for a previous comment

Back in 2021, Eamonn and Ruth were controversially removed from This Morning after 15 years on the show and were replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

In his interview with GB News, Eamonn claimed the ITV’s chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall “never gave him a reason” as to why he was axed.

He also alleged that the head of ITV Daytime Emma Gormley was ordered by Dame McCall “to get rid of” him.

At the time of his exit, his removal was reported to be down to the backlash he received for his comments on 5G and coronavirus.

Eamonn had questioned whether there was a link between the two — something that was reported to have left ITV bosses fuming.

As a result, regulator Ofcom had to intervene and Eamonn was forced to issue an apology.

Speaking of the incident tonight, he said: “I said you should be able to question the narrative about these things.”

He also said: “They like a certain order even if that order is corrupt doesn’t matter if they are bending the rules or breaking the rules, but as long as they instigate lockdown, then it’s their way or the highway.”

Presenting This Morning ‘drunk’

Phillip and Holly appeared to be ‘drunk’ after an awards party

In the interview, Eamonn hit at ITV bosses yet again, saying that “whatever Holly and Phil want, they get.”

He explained to Dan the duo were allowed to appear drunk on air after the National Television Awards in 2016, essentially advocating drinking, yet he was apparently banned for promoting chocolate because it’s “poisonous.”

“They have been allowed to turn up the next day advocating the use of drink – or something else, I don’t know – and sit on a couch [like] “I’m so drunk, I haven’t been to bed,” whatever, whatever,’ he raged.

Eamonn has since slammed bosses for allowing them to act ‘drunk’

“And yet, ITV this is at a time, the legacy of Ant McPartlin lovely fella, lovely fellow, who was in a driving accident where people were injured and he was under the influence of drink, and yet they can promote that.”

In 2018, Ant was involved in a car accident in when he was driving under the influence of alcohol — he was fined and received a 20-month ban from driving.

Eamonn went on: “But they come in doing their drunk act the next day. So it’s either an act in which case it’s false, or they are drunk, in which case it should not be allowed.

“Ruth and I were prevented from advertising chocolate in an advert because it is a poisonous product. It would be poisonous, to advertise chocolate is poisonous and you wouldn’t be allowed to do it.”

He added: “Phillip can sell cars, she can sell anything else – she’s worried about not being able to sell anything now because of her image may well be damaged because she’s associated with Phillip. But these are rules for one and rules for another. Does that make me bitter? Maybe it does.”
