Coronation Street’s Evelyn leaves ITV viewers in tears after cheeky ‘mr floppy’ remark

Coronation Street fans were left in tears after Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) made a cheeky comment about “mr floppy” and “dingly danglies.”

In Tuesday’s episode (May 30) Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Evelyn were sat in the cafe discussing his recent health scare as well as his dog’s operation.

But things took a slightly awkward turn when Evelyn was reminiscing about her late dog.

“He was a bit depressed after he had his,” she said, before pausing and pointing to the nether regions.

“He was off his food and he didn’t want to go out,” she added.

Evelyn left fans in tears on Tuesday (May 30)

“He wasn’t even ingested in mr floppy!” she said, leaving Roy looking rather flustered and confused.

Clearing her comment up, Evelyn explained: “his stuffed rabbit!”

She went on; “Funnily enough, it was real life rabbit that got him out of his sulk.

“He chased it halfway across a moor and then it was like he suddenly realised he could be a real dog.

Roy wasn’t impressed by his pal’s comment

“Even tho he didn’t have his dingly-danglies.”

Again, Roy was left not knowing where to look, and viewers watching the clip at home were left equally as floored.

Rushing to Twitter, one person wrote: “Corrie goes from heartbreaking to funny in seconds that’s why I love it perfect scene filler with Evelyn and Roy with Mr Floppy.”

A second said: “Mr Floppy” followed by several laughing face emojis, as someone else added: “I love the Evelyn and Roy duo, so unlikely yet heartwarming and funny, more please.”

“The writers are brilliant for making Evelyn as hilarious as she is,” said a fourth viewer, while another person wrote: “”his…dingly-danglies?” along with a smiley face emoji.

Viewers were left in tears at the comment

Show favourite Roy is set to undergo a major operation in upcoming episodes after struggling with chest pains.

After downplaying his health issues, the long-running character was rushed to hospital when the pains became out of control and learned he must have surgery.

After his dog Freddie goes in for an operation his niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) tells Evelyn that Roy is sleep walking again in episodes this week.

After leaving the café door open, Freddie runs out, forcing Roy to open up and reveal he is worried about his big operation coming up.

Preparing for the worst, Roy writes a series of heartbreaking goodbye letters for his loved ones and hands them to Evelyn to hand out in case he dies on the table.
