BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty replaced by co-star after admitting health issue

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty was missing from the sofa and replaced by her co-star on Thursday (June 1) – after admitting to a hidden health issue.

Naga normally hosts the flagship morning show on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with co-host Charlie Stayt, where she delivers the latest news and chat for viewers across the country.

But Naga’s fans might have been scratching their heads when they tuned in on Thursday as she was nowhere to be seen in the studio.

Instead, a presenter shake-up saw Breakfast star Nina Warhurst step in and host the show with Charlie in Naga’s absence.

It comes after Naga revealed that she has been suffering from a hidden health battle.

The broadcaster opened up to listeners on her Radio 5 Live show and spoke to others suffering from the same condition on Tuesday (May 30).

Earlier that morning, she promoted the show with a close-up snap of her sweating.

Captioning the snap, she wrote: “”It’s not actually that warm out there this morning! Did a short run anyway to get going.

“Feeling better for it and I’ll be in your ear later @bbc5live 11am-1pm.

“Talking more about #adenomyosis and how to raise awareness and ensure better care and diagnosis for those who suffer with it.”

On her show, she said: “Right now as I sit here talking to you, I am in pain. Constant, nagging pain.

Naga told fans she was in constant “nagging” pain due to her Adenomyosis

“In my uterus, around my pelvis – sometimes it runs down my thighs. And I’ll have some level of pain for the entire show and for the rest of the day until I go to sleep.

“Every so often the pain changes; it becomes a stabbing pain. A pain that takes my breath away and I can do nothing but sit with it for a minute or curl up to cope.”

She added: “I’m in pain because I have something called Adenomyosis. You probably haven’t heard of it, I hadn’t either until I was told eight months ago that I have it.
