Love Island’s Molly Marsh breaks silence following claims she’s been planted by producers

Love Island contestant Molly Marsh has defended her place on her show after she was accused of being a plant.

Fans kicked off after it emerged that the blonde bombshell had already been to both the Majorcan and the South African villa on a press trip – so may have had an unfair advantage.

Molly, 21, was invited to experience the Love Island set as part of her work as an Influencer but insists that she earned her place on the show fair and square.

According to reports, she caught the eye of show producers in South Africa but she still had to audition like everyone else.

Molly, whose mum is Coronation Street actress Janet Marsh, said: “I hope people don’t see me as a plant, I don’t want people to think that it’s been an easy route just because I’ve been to the villas.”

She added to The Sun: “It has been a long and hard process. It’s been difficult.”

During her trip to Majorca, Molly shared glamorous snaps and said that the villa was a “safe and warm place” and that it would be her “dream” to meet “the guy that I’m gonna spend the rest of my life with in there”.

The Doncaster-based stunner, who also has some acting experience, said her whole family were behind her.

“They know I love the show and they’re excited for me to hopefully go and find ‘the one,” said Molly.

Speaking about why she wanted to go on Love Island, she said: “I think it’s ideal timing and the perfect way to find someone.”

She added: “I don’t go out and party and I don’t use dating apps, I’m actually quite old-fashioned, so there’s no better way to meet someone than by going into a villa in the sun with the potential ‘one’ in there.”

Meanwhile, Molly has also told fans that she has never had any work done to enhance her appearance.

She also wants to be a role model to her 15-year-old sister and other younger people and to let them know that they can just be themselves and embrace what they look like.

Asked whether she’d ever had cosmetic surgery, she told Daily Star and other press: “No, I’m very strong on the opinion of ‘don’t change yourself for anything or anyone, and don’t feel pressured to do so.”

“I want to be a role model to my sister more than anything, and my younger followers that are growing up and seeing especially people in lip filler, changing what they look like, because that’s what ‘pretty’ is.”

However, it has emerged that Molly has had Botox on her jaw – but it was for a medical reason.

She said: “I have had jaw botox because I had really bad teeth grinding so as a health procedure.”
