Strictly’s Janette takes savage swipe at hubby Aljaž on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip

Strictly Come Dancing duo Janette Manrara ruined a rather romantic moment with her co-star husband and Aljaž Škorjanec during the latest episode of BBC’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Husband and wife Janette and Alijaž found themselves in a spot of healthy competition, competing to see which of them could gain the largest profit from selling antiques from Oxfordshire.

The episode saw Janette taking home the winning title, making a final sum of £348.34, in comparison to Aljaž’s £255.30.

The couple shared their thoughts at various moments in the episode, from the front seat of a classic 60s Mercedes and a 70s Jaguar.

Many of the clips saw the pair joking about their competitive side, with Janette swearing at the beginning of the episode, “I’m not competitive at all! That’s why I was only on one final at Strictly.”

But by the end of the episode, the Cuban-born dancer was vying to be the champion.

Aljaž attempted to create a romantic atmosphere, smiling adoringly at his wife from the driver’s seat, commenting, “I think this is the first time in our life that we’re actually seriously competing against each other, isn’t it.

“Someone’s going to have to win, but more than anything I just love doing this with you.”

But his determined wife completely disregarded his sweet comment, hitting back with a savage response, “Yeah, but I’m still feeling a little bit competitive, I’m not gonna lie. I didn’t think I would, but, I feel it a little bit.”

This comment came after the pair joked about the prize afforded to the winner.

Janette asserted, “If I win, you have to take me to the most beautiful romantic dinner in the city.”

Her Slovenian husband responded, “If you win, I can go online and I can start looking for my classic car. What about that?” to which Janette eagerly agreed.

Yet, the TV personality later joked that Aljaž’s prize was merely fanciful.

Janette quipped, “Remember, we made a bet. If I win, we have to go for a gorgeous dinner at a beautiful restaurant anywhere in the world.”

“But if you win, you said I get to look at classic cars. Look all you want.”

A defeated Aljaž simply responded, “great.”

Janette’s dreams came true, acting as a master bargainer throughout the episode, and haggling plenty of reduced prices in the various antiques shops around Oxfordshire.

Her 33-year-old spouse also made money moves with his “boyish charm”, according to the BBC Two show’s hosts, David Harper and Izzie Balmer.

Aljaž’s allure unfortunately wasn’t enough to bag him the top spot, losing the most money on an antique torchere, that he bantered was “an arm rest”.
