It’s been more than a decade since the first ever series of Dance Moms hit our TV screens, with young Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak and Nia Sioux all shooting to fame.
More stars – including Jojo Siwa – would come later to the party, but one thing is for certain – plenty of the crew have changed a lot over the years.
From Mackenzie admitting to getting plastic surgery done on her nose to Abby Lee Miller’s epic weight loss, nothing stays the same for very long.

To mark Mackenzie’s 19th birthday, Daily Star is taking a look at just how much they all changed over the years.
Mackenzie’s nose job
In an Instagram video posted in 2022, Mackenzie Ziegler confirmed she underwent surgery on her nose.
The star was asked about the bruises on her face by worried fans, and then explained in a video: “I got my nose done. I just want to say that for everyone if you’re wondering why I look really weird.”
Mackenzie said she’d wanted the procedure since she was young, but was still waiting at the time for the swelling to go down.
She added: “Right now it’s still swollen, so it’s like… I look really strange. It kind of scares me a little!”
Abby’s weight loss
Abby Lee Miller’s weight came under fire several times on the show, with the moms regularly making fun of her size with cruel jabs.
But after her own mother was diagnosed with cancer, the weight began to drop off Abby, and she went from a US size 24 (UK 28) to a US 16 (UK 20).
Though rumours of her undergoing gastric band surgery circulated, Abby confessed that she had lost weight accidentally. From running to her mum’s hospital appointments to being diagnosed with the onset of diabetes, Abby had a lot to battle with.
But it was when she filled a prescription in Australia for her diabetes, she couldn’t stop throwing up.
Abby told People Magazine: “I would take this medicine and within an hour, I was vomiting like I was in fourth grade and had the flu or like I had food poisoning. It was awful.
“After I would throw up, I couldn’t even look at food for the rest of the day.”
Abby was later diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, with a tumour “choking her spinal cord”, and was confined to a wheelchair after serving out her prison sentence.
She’s now on the mend and working on rehab to start walking properly again.
Lennon’s transition
In late 2022, Lennon Torres took the plunge and underwent top surgery after coming out as trans around 18 months before.
The star, who starred on both Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and Dance Moms, has been candid that her transition is a journey, not a destination.
She confessed to E! News: “I know people have done a ‘before’ photo and an ‘after’ photo – it is what it is. It’s great, I love that, but I think a transition is really a transition.
“I’ve seen my body do these amazing things with oestrogen and other hormone replacement therapy options, and my body has really been changing gradually.”
She added: “Being transgender is so fulfilling and our stories can be so inspiring.”
Now Lennon regularly delights her fans with stunning bikini snaps, showing off her long brunette hair and sweet curves.
Maddie’s bleached brows
Maddie Ziegler said goodbye to her brows earlier this year, as she bleached them platinum blonde.
Following in the footsteps of celebs like Madonna, Maddie looked glossy and glam as she debuted her look at Paris Fashion Week, going topless under an open spiked trench coat and matching trousers.
Her daring look included shiny black boots and pants with loose stitches all up the legs – with Maddie branding the event the “show of her dreams”.
Jojo’s hair
Jojo Siwa became renowned for her iconic blonde ponytail and brightly coloured hair bows – even going as far as to launch her own branded collection after finding fame on Dance Moms.
But a lot has changed for Jojo, and she more recently debuted her cropped pixie cut, buzzed on the sides with long blonde curls on top.
The 20-year-old also came out and went public with her now ex-girlfriend Kylie Prew, before the pair split in 2021.
Jojo branded herself the “best gay cousin ever” and confirmed she is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, explaining to her fans: “Personally, I have never, ever, ever been this happy before and it feels really awesome.”
Abby’s facelift
Abby Lee Miller’s weight loss isn’t the only thing that’s changed about her appearance over the years. In 2022, she underwent a ‘liquid nose job’ with Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Truesdale.
She confirmed of the procedure: “My nose leans to the left. I had horrible allergies.”
She also wanted to get rid of the bump in her nose, and the injections helped to camouflage the bump by creating symmetry in the face.

Later appearing on reality show The Doctors, Abby also underwent a facelift on her face and neck, which included liposuction and smoothed Abby’s chin.
Her surgeon explained: “The first part is to do liposuction of the neck, and you can see that the fat is little by little coming through that little tube.
“Now we’re starting with the face and we’re making tiny incisions around the ears to get access to the facial fat and muscles.”
