Tupac gets Hollywood Walk of Fame star as sister holds back tears in heartfelt tribute

Tupac Shakur’s sister shared a heartfelt tribute after the late rapper received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The American rapper, who died in September 1996 aged 25, was commemorated on Wednesday (June 7) in Hollywood as a group of the artist’s close friends, family, and supporters attended the big reveal.

Tupac, whose discography included All Eyez on Me and Hit Em Up, became the 2,758th person to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, and his proud sister was overwhelmed with emotion as she delivered a speech to the crowd.

“Tupac knew deep down that he was always meant for something great. And as his little sister, I had the privilege to watch that greatness unfold.”

She then went on to talk about his achievements as a child and his dreams.

After pausing to regain her composure, she said: “Today, we’re not just honouring a star on the ground, but we’re honouring the work and the passion that he’s put into making his dreams come true.”

The hip-hop legend died on September 13, 1996, of gunshot wounds suffered in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting.

He was shot four times and taken hospital, where he was put on life support.

Sadly, he died seven days later from internal bleeding, with the official cause of death later recorded as respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest associated with gunshot wounds.
