Only Fools and Horses actress’ son is actually major Hollywood superhero star

In the beloved British sitcom, Only Fools And Horses, the character Rodney Trotter (played by Nicholas Lyndhurst), started off in his 20s who was unlucky in love, but fans saw him get married to Cassandra.

The pair hit it off immediately whilst attending evening school together before tying the knot in 1989.

In the episode Little Problems, viewers saw their wedding reception which was thrown at the Nag’s Head, which was the only episode to feature Cassandra’s parents and Rodney’s in-laws, Alan and Pamela Parry.

Pamela accused her husband Alan of being childish in Del Boy’s company, but she was later seen getting embarrassingly drunk after the christening of Damien Trotter in the first instalment of Miami Twice in 1991.

They pair later again appeared in the series within the episode, Jolly Boys’ Outing.

Although she only appeared in three episodes of the BBC series, the character of Pam is memorable amongst viewers, who praised the actress Wanda Ventham for her performance.

The 87-year-old star was first credited in 1956 for her role as Gina in the movie, My Teenage Daughter.

Since then she has carved out a successful career for herself with other appearances in huge series including Casualty, Midsomer Murders, Holby City and Dr Who.

In 2019, she starred as Wendy in the series Departure and later went onto play Fay Douglas in Penance in 2020.

The apple did not fall far from the tree as her son is none other than A-List actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

He was born at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in Hammersmith, West London, to Wanda and his father Timothy.

And it seems they share their love of the craft as the mum and son duo have starred alongside each other in the hit series, Sherlock.

Wanda played the mother of the lead character whilst Benedict’s father Timothy – and Wanda’s husband – joined the pair on-screen in an episode of the drama.

Meanwhile, Benedict continues to make a name for himself on a global scale, as he previously starred in mega-hits such as 1917, The Courier and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise as Doctor Strange.

In 2021, he returned to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, after making appearances in the Avengers series.

He has recieved much critical acclaim after his Oscar nomination for his incredible performance as Alan Turning in the hit period drama The Imitation Game.

The star also won the Outstanding Lead Actor award at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards for his role in Sherlock.
