Malcom in the Middle reunion on the cards as Frankie Muniz ‘100% up for it’

Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz is “100% ready” for “any type of reunion” as stars from the show declare their interest in a return.

The former child star, now 37, is said to be hopeful for the show to come back in time for its 25th anniversary.

Frankie is believed to be “curious” about the programme’s future because his character was an “important part of his life”, a source has claimed.

It comes after actor Bryan Cranston, who played Malcolm’s dad, Hal, confirmed the show’s creators have been brainstorming for a potential return.

The source claimed Frankie “shares the same interest” as Bryan and would also like to explore how to develop the show.

They told Daily Mail: “Frankie is 100% ready and into any type of reunion when it comes to Malcolm.

“It is such an important part of his life, so to return to it and do something fun and see everyone again would be great.

“He thinks that it would be awesome to have something for the 25th anniversary.

“Whether it be something [like] Friends did, a movie, or a full-on reboot. If the idea is awesome it would be a no-brainer.”

The last episode of the show aired in May 2006 and saw Hal and Lois gobsmacked as they discovered she was pregnant with their sixth child.

Meanwhile, Malcolm had just started attending Ivy League school Harvard University.

Bryan, who is now largely known for his role in Breaking Bad, told GQ: “I’m curious about that family 20 years later.

“What happened to them? Where are they? What are the kids doing? They’re grown men now.”

Malcolm worked as a part-time janitor in the final episode

He previously spoke about being approached by the show creator Linwood Boomer.

Bryan told NME: “I can tell you that Linwood Boomer, the creator of Malcolm In The Middle, is interested in developing an idea for a rebooted series or a movie.

“He won’t do it unless there’s a really, really good idea though. He won’t just do it so that everyone makes a paycheck. And I’m not interested in that either.”
