The Idol has been causing quite the stir after episode two featured “the worst sex scene in history”.
Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Makkonen Tasfaye, better known as The Weeknd, star in the new project which has been slammed for graphic sex scenes showing masturbation, sex and explicit dirty talk.
Fans and critics alike have spoken out and many have criticised the pornographic elements of Sam Levinson’s new project.

A GQ article was published addressing the series’ raunchy, graphic sex scenes and the media outlet didn’t hold back as they slammed The Idol’s intimate moments.
Within the last few minutes of The Idol’s second episode, Jocelyn and Tedros get down and dirty as the star masturbates with a red scarf tied round her head.
A fully clothed Tedros crouched behind a chair and narrated the entire scene with dirty talk, which clearly did not impress GQ writer Lucy Ford.
She wrote that The Weeknd spoke his raunchy lines with “all the enthusiasm of someone who just found out they have to work a double shift” as he “stared dead-eyed” at Jocelyn.
The article went on to slam Abel further and said: “Tedros emerges from his crouched perch with all the energy and sexual enticement of Gollum scurrying for a fish to unzip his trousers.”
Online criticism went a step further as fans gathered on social media to call out Sam Levinson and The Weeknd.
On Twitter, many viewers shared their thoughts on the sexually explicit series and appeared to be horrified by what they had seen – and no doubt what they had heard.
One wrote: “Abel is killing his career with this show and all of its pornographic fantasy.”
Another typed: “After the [second] episode, [for sure] thinking this show is a flop, disappointing [and] sounds like Sam Levinson is largely at fault and unfortunately The Weeknd too, damn I saw it’s potential [though].”
Other fans flocked to Twitter to brand the show “the biggest piece of shit on the planet” as it is “trying to glamourise a story”.
Another said that “Abel as Tedros is a major ick” while one viewer joked that The Weeknd’s dirty lines were “crazy things to say with a straight face”.
