The Chase’s Bradley Walsh walks off as star wins big after ‘worst cash-builder ever’

The Chase’s Bradley Walsh couldn’t believe his eyes as a player made ITV history after the “worst cash-builder ever”.

The presenter, 63, welcomed contestants Pete, Andrew, Janty and Kerri into the studio on Thursday (June 15) who put their general knowledge to the test.

But it was Essex-based beautician Janty who floored fans after answering zero questions correctly in the cash-builder round, meaning she went head-to-head with Jenny Ryan with no money on the table.

Janty’s first performance sent viewers into meltdown and they headed straight to social media to share their thoughts.

Janty answered zero questions correctly in the cash-builder round

“Did that actually just happen? That was without a doubt the worst cash builder I’ve ever seen,” exclaimed one viewer.

Another person penned: “Good Lord, never seen someone get 0 #TheChase.”

“Well this team is quite dreadful #TheChase,” added a third viewer while someone else shared: “The most stupid competitor ever #TheChase”.

Refusing to give the 28-year-old a lower sum than zero, Jenny could only tempt her with a higher offer and put £40,000 on the table.

Despite Janty’s self-proclaimed “rubbish” performance and the fact her two co-stars were already caught by the chaser, she insisted: “You’re only here once” and went for the £40,000.

But to everyone’s surprise, Janty put on an incredibly impressive performance and made it through to the final chase with five figures in the bank.

The former Coronation Street actor couldn’t hide his shock as he ran off set with his arms in the air, shouting: “I cannot believe that!”

Janty answered six questions correctly in the final chase

He added: “Janty that was tremendous. That will go down for me in Chase history. That was absolutely thrilling. I loved every second of that.”

But despite the history-making moment, things weren’t meant to be when it came down to the final chase.

Standing alone, Janty answered just six questions correctly, giving the Vixen plenty of time to catch her.

And she did just that, matching Janty’s score after just 34 seconds.
