Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star at the British Soap Awards, the Canadian actor has shared his lifted the lid on how he plans for the Cobbles killer to leave the show.
When asked what future he sees for the vile swindler, Todd explained that he doesn’t see another murder in his immediate future.
He told us: “I don’t see anyone else on the horizon in terms of who could be killed, we’re not that far ahead so they could surprise me at any time.
“At one point I was [trying to surpass Pat Phelan’s kill count]. I was trying to get the grandstands on telly, I want to be the one who’s killed the most.
“But in a sense, I think he’s an accidental killer,” Todd explained. “When he first killed Leo, it was actually scripted to be more of a scruffle for the phone and then he went over.
“But I decided,‘Let’s let Stephen have a little more to do with that’.”
The soap star went on to warn fans to keep an eye out for fan-favourite Elaine Jones as she continues to fall madly in love with Stephen.
He went on: “Watch out for Elaine because he’s got that life insurance out on her that can only mean one thing.
“He’s got a few people who are getting on his nerves or making him nervous because they could jeopardise his future.
“He’s worked so hard and I think he’s come this far. He doesn’t want to have to have done all this in vain. He wants to have a nice life.”

It was at this point that the Canadian started to ponder about his character’s eventual exit from the ITV soap.
The actor reassured fans: “There’s no end in sight but I have a feeling he’ll get caught.
“I would like personally for him to go out in a blaze of glory, I don’t want him to disappear and go back. I want something finite because I think the audience is losing their minds.”
