TLC viewers looked on in awe as a young Amish woman tried on a bikini for the first time ever – and was left in tears.
Rosanna Miller, star of Return to Amish, headed to the store with her boyfriend Johnny Detweiler and pals Jethro Nolt and Fannie Schmucker.
When she emerged wearing a teeny scarlet two-piece, Rosanna was left in tears with her traditional bonnet still atop her head, as Jethro whooped.

She confessed: “I’m so excited about my English clothes that I can’t wait to go and try them on and go to the beach.”
Fannie reassured Rosanna: “That looks good on you.”
But her boyfriend Johnny wasn’t quite as impressed. Dressed in a simple navy t-shirt and a backwards baseball cap, his pal Kenneth agreed: “I get it. I wouldn’t want my girlfriend dressed like that in front of other men.”
While Jeremiah said: “An Amish man wants his woman to stay covered up. So naturally, Johnny being an Amish guy, you know, his woman coming out in front of everybody wearing a bathing suit… obviously he’s going to be upset.”
Johnny said it was “too much” seeing Rosanna in a bikini, adding: “That’s not who I want to be with. That’s not what I want.”
Back in her Amish clothes, Rosanna confessed: “I wanted to feel beautiful about myself, and I totally did not feel beautiful about myself because of Johnny.”
She explained to him: “That’s why I left the Amish, to go out and do stuff like that.”
Speaking to the camera, Rosanna added: “The Amish, they never shame the men, and they don’t know how it feels. I want to be proud of myself and my body.”

Eventually, Johnny admitted he did want to return to the Amish lifestyle – while Rosanna reassured him he’ll get used to the culture shock.
Meanwhile, Fannie couldn’t even emerge from the dressing room in her own swimsuit, with Daniel confessing: “Her whole life, she was taught to dress very modestly [with] pretty much no skin showing.”
“For Fannie, I think the culture that she grew up with, it’s just a mental war in your head,” Carmela added.
