Love Island’s Mehdi branded ‘major red flag’ and ‘threatened’ by Whitney’s ‘likability’

A body language expert has dubbed Love Island star Mehdi Edno’s behaviour a “major red flag” after spotting several signs of “controlling behaviour”.

Fans of the ITV2 dating show have been concerned about his treatment of his current partner Whitney Adebayo after he made some controversial comments to her and appeared to be demonstrating some very concerning language.

Inbaal Honigman has taken a closer look at the pair’s romance and revealed he is “threatened” by Whitney’s likeable personality.

“Mehdi’s behaviour around Whitney is controlling, without a doubt.

“His actions show that he’s happy when she listens to him, but annoyed when he needs to listen to her,” said having analyzed several clips of the pair from the show.

Following Mehdi’s accusation that Whitney made Jess Harding cry, Inbaal added: “When Whitney fills Mehdi in about the conversation that caused Jess to cry, Mehdi sits promptly, without gesturing for Whitney to sit, or waiting for her to take her seat first.

“She stays upright for a while, uncertain, until her tells her to ‘sit down’ – this seems to suggest that he was expecting her just to copy him without question.

“As she explains, he looks down, and isn’t looking in her eyes or at her face, he’s pursing his lips as well.”

She explains that this lack of eye contact is intended to make Whitney feel “less important” and the pursed lips signify annoyance.

“He contradicts her as she speaks, saying Jess didn’t cry ‘for no reason’. His interjecting again shows his controlling ways.”

The couple appeared to be back on track during the recoupling with Mehdi showing a “genuine, delighted smile.”

“He’s bouncing up and down a bit as he talks, showing that he’s excited and a little anxious. It seems that when it’s his turn to speak, he’s really happy. No one is interrupting him and all eyes are on Mehdi.”

But Mehdi soon reverts back to his controlling ways when the pair are along together, as our expert claims Mehdi is threatened by Whitney’s likable personality.

“This jovial Mehdi vanishes when he’s 1:1 with Whitney again. And as he pulls her up over her conduct during the speech, which he brands ‘disrespectful’, he leans away from her. His half-smile shows his cynicism,” she said.

She also added: “Mehdi is a red flag through and through, he seems to feel threatened by Whitney’s bubbly personality.”
