Glastonbury goers leave 2023 festival early as they brand experience ‘awful’

Glastonbury goers were not too keen on this year’s festival – with plenty reported to have left the iconic event early.

Around 210,000 people headed to Somerset on Wednesday (June 21) for the festival – which saw the likes of Elton John, Lizzo and Lewis Capaldi take the stage.

But by Saturday (June 24) it was reported that hundreds of festival-goers left early as many insisted “the vibe was completely off this year”.

The scouring temperatures, overcrowded spaces and disappointing headline acts like Lana Del Rey and Arctic Monkeys have all reportedly played a part in burnt-out revellers passing through the exit gates for good.

Mollie Fox, 23, told MailOnline: “People told me Glastonbury is magical and it just hasn’t been that. The vibe was completely off this year. It’s too hot, dusty and over-packed – they need to stop over-selling tickets.”

While 24-year-old Liam Rogan said: “People are just done with it, it’s depressing. Glastonbury’s been awful this year.

“Nothing has gone well and none of the acts were show-stopping. I left the Arctic Monkeys, they were that awful.”

The festival-goer went on to note how they are having to leave early as “the roads aren’t made for the traffic jams”.

Zoe, 47, who came from South Shields, Tyne and Wear said the hot weather was a driving factor for her to escape the site, noting how she has not “enjoyed any of the acts”.

One act that appeared to rub festival-goers and viewers the wrong way was The Other Stage headliner Lana Del Rey.

The Video Games hitmaker was forced to apologise after she had her power cut off after starting late.

She arrived on the stage 30 minutes late to the sound of the crowd singing “we want Lana”, and was quick to apologise for her late start.

Lana said: “I was so f****** late that I am about to rush this set,” she said.

“If they cut power, they cut power. I’m super f****** sorry, my hair takes so long to do.”

Her power was then cut off at midnight due to the curfew, and Lana was forced to lead fans in an a capella performance of her final song Video Games.
