X Factor’s Christopher Maloney reckons a dodgy Chinese takeaway has given him arthritis.
After ingesting a killer parasite in his crispy duck pancakes which nearly killed him two years ago, he is sadly still suffering from the aftereffects of the meal.
The singer, 45, was hospitalised for 12 days after his organs shut down in January 2021 due to contracting Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Campylobacter.

Now Chris has been diagnosed with arthritis as well as colitis of the colon and large intestine, which causes severe inflammation, which he claims is down to the takeaway.
Christopher told MailOnline: “The usual place I ordered from cancelled so I ended up ordering from a new place and I didn’t look at the food hygiene rating.
“I felt awful and should’ve gone to hospital sooner but I didn’t want to let the panto down.
“All I could manage to keep down was a bite of pineapple and sip of water but I kept going, and then I did a sell out tour in Manchester.”
However, unfortunately for Christopher, the killer parasite eventually took hold of his body.
His terrified mum was then forced to call the star an ambulance.
Christopher continued: “I have arthritis and colitis and it’s taken a toll on me. I still feel like I got off lightly though, people have died from this.”
The star has also been suffering from a variation of different mental health issues alongside physical health problems, such as body dysmorphia and anxiety.
Struggling with this had let him down the surgery route and he is now getting another surgical procedure, this time on his eyelids to try and appear more youthful.
Christopher added: “My body dysmorphia, my anxiety and depression has taken over my life. In the past 12 months it’s gone into overdrive.
“This is my 20th surgery in seven years and it’s a really major. I know it’s excessive but I just can’t help it. I need to stop but I can’t.
“I started counselling but I’m really down and depressed dealing with this. I’m not doing this for vanity reasons, it’s an uncontrollable addiction.”
