Comedians only do corporate gigs for ‘obscene amounts of money’, says Russel Kane

Comedians don’t care if they’re funny at corporate gigs as they only ever do them for the “obscene amounts of money”, says Russell Kane.

He confessed that comics are simply interested taking their pay packet and then going home.

The 47-year-old told the Big Fish podcast: “There’s a real stand-up comedy gig, where people have come to see comedy, and there’s what’s called a corporate gig where the comedian has been dropped in an environment that was never intended for stand-up.

“A little industry secret: I don’t know any stand-ups that give a shit if they die at those gigs – they don’t care.

“You’re being paid an obscene amount of money.

“Can you imagine how important environment is for a bunch of strangers all looking at each other and working out whether this joke about women or class is okay or funny?”

It comes after Russell opened up about his love life with wife Lindsey Cole.

The funnyman tied the knot with the stunning make-up artist in 2014 and they share a daughter named Mina.

He told The Sun earlier this year that he’s “hornier than ever”.

Russell said: “I think my wife would like a little less spark.

“I have an unusual amount of energy. I think she probably hoped by dating an older man she’d be bothered less than she is.

“I’m hornier than a rhino, only for her obviously. We’re just really into each other and we go out a lot and it makes people want to throw up when we’re all over each other.

“I left school without kissing a girl. I’m 5ft10 and talk a lot. I was so bad at being single.”

Although known mainly for stand-up comedy, Russel has also presented Big Brother’s Big Mouth and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here – Now.

In 2015, it was revealed that Kane had been lying about his age, claiming to be five years younger than his true vintage.
