One Amish woman was left feeling as though she was “walking on a cloud” after undergoing a total image overhaul which transformed her into a modern ‘English’ girl.
For the uninitiated, English is how the Amish community refers to anyone outside their sphere – those living a ‘normal’ Western life.
And TLC reality star Maureen Byler wanted just that as one episode of Return to Amish saw her get emotional after a complete transformation.

At the start of the episode, Maureen was seen wearing a traditional light blue button-up dress and a white bonnet as she spoke in Pennsylvania Dutch to her grandmother.
The long gown was a far cry from what she later changed into – a pair of nude stiletto heels and a thigh-skimming bright blue dress.
But her grandma said it was an instant “no”, telling Maureen: “You can’t have that dress, it’s way too short. If you bend down, I can see your butt. It’s a flat-out no.”
Maureen tried a few more dresses before settling on an even shorter dress, decorated with pink, green and blue floral print.
The off-the-shoulder gown left plenty of flesh bare – but her grandmother said she looked “awesome” and “stunning” in the outfit.
Next it was time for hair and make-up, as Maureen stripped out of her bonnet and painted her nails a neon pink – before having false lashes applied and her hair curled in gentle waves.
Maureen confessed to the cameras: “I can’t explain how I feel. I cannot explain. It feels like I’m walking on a cloud. It’s just the best feeling ever.”
She remarked in the salon: “I feel pretty”, as her grandmother Ada gushed: “She is stunning, beautiful and gorgeous with her hair done, her make-up on, her nice dress.
“It just almost made me cry. She was so beautiful.”

Maureen then admitted: “I feel like I actually don’t have to be ashamed of how I look. I want to look like myself, nobody else.”
Then it was time to show her final look to her boyfriend Danny, who was similarly overwhelmed.
Daniel and Maureen got engaged in 2020, and welcomed their first child together last year, a daughter called Emily Lynn.
It seems the pair have since ditched their Amish lifestyle altogether, with Danny often spotted rocking Adidas tracksuits and Maureen in traditional western dresses.
