EastEnders Rocky star Brian Conley says BBC soap cast fear axe and ‘no one is safe’

EastEnders actor Brian Conley has admitted “no one is safe” as he and the rest of the BBC cast are constantly worried about being axed.

Brian, 61, is currently lighting up out screens as Tom “Rocky” Cotton on the popular BBC soap as he takes on a slew of dramatic storylines in the buildup to his marriage to Kathy Beale.

Daily Star and other press sat down with Brain ahead of his big day, and despite admitting he still has to “pinch himself” at landing the role and marrying such a soap icon, he and the rest of the cast never know when their time will be up.

Speaking about his future on the show, he revealed: “I think we should be worried, for everyone. We’re worried as actors. We genuinely are.”

He went on to say that no one on the cast is safe as fans await the reveal of a major character’s exit later this years.

“I might only last till Christmas. That’s the fun of it.

“As actors we all live on tenterhooks to some degree coz you can be written out in two and a half weeks or a week. You know?”

Despite not knowing what the future has in store, Brian admitted that he does find that element of risk “exciting.”

“That for me makes it exciting as well coz you don’t know and I think it keeps everyone’s game up. But I don’t know.”

The star also gushed about his connection with his co-star Gillian Taylforth, who plays Kathy Beale and how he hopes to kept on the show for as long as possible.

“I have a genuinely good relationship with Gillian and I hope it continues.

“I know she feels the same. When spend a lot of time with someone, you’re crying and shouting and having fun together. I really hope it continues. Who knows?”

As for his upcoming wedding scenes, the star remained tight-lipped over the details but promised fans a slew of drama.

Speaking of his ex-wife Jo showing up at their wedding, he said: “he just wants her out the way. He hasn’t seen her for 25 years and no suddenly she’s turned up.

“He feels that it’s done and she’s signed the paper and he’s not hiding anything from Kathy.”

The star also noted a highlight during his wedding scenes.

“The big thing for me that I was really blown away was that horse and carriage that took us from the ceremony back to the registry office at the Vic was the same one as frank and Pat Butcher had. What an honour.”

On marrying soap veteran Gillian, he gushed: “we just hit if off. We’re a similar age, we gelled.

“We have a chemistry and I’m truly honoured to be bedded in a bit and woven into it and I do pinch myself.

“I’ve been there two and a hald years and even yesterday I was in the Vic and I was like ‘cor blimey, I’m in the vic!’”
