Coronation Street star tipped for BBC Strictly stint as she ‘bounces back from split’

Coronation Street star Ellie Leach looks set to join Strictly Come Dancing for the 2023 series of the hit BBC dancing competition, according to The Sun.

The big TV role comes after she split from her model boyfriend Reagan Pettman after five years together and she waved goodbye to the cobbles after joining in 2011 as Faye Windass.

The show has become known for pairing celebrities with dance partners who later fall in love during the intense rehearsal process.

A source told The Sun: “This could be just the tonic for Ellie, who’s had some huge life changes this year and could do with something fresh to focus on.

“As well as splitting from Reagan she left Corrie, a show which she effectively grew up on as she joined the cast when she was just a child.

“It’s going to take some adjusting to, but Strictly is part of opening up a new chapter for Ellie.”

Ellie left Corrie back in May this year, as Faye decided to move to Slough to be with Jackson Hodge, the father of her daughter Miley.

The door has been left open for the fan favourite to return, but it looks like she could have other opportunities on her plate.

Rumours have been flying that the new series of the dancing show could see the “full soap set” take part, with EastEnders ‘ Bobby Brazier and Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas being tipped for the series.

Other rumoured names are Love Island star Zara McDermott and broadcaster Angela Rippon, who could be the show’s oldest ever contestant at 78.

A source told Daily Mail: “Zara is the perfect signing for Strictly, not only is she beautiful and glamorous but she is hardworking and will take being on the show very seriously.

“She’s absolutely loved the experience of documentary making and is over the moon to further her relationship with the BBC by signing up to Strictly.

“It is a dream come true for her and becoming the first former Love Island star to do so is the icing on the cake.”
