Emotional Ronan Keating spotted carrying coffin at brother’s funeral after tragic death

Ronan Keating has been spotted helping carry the coffin at the funeral of his brother Ciaran Keating.

The older sibling of the Boyzone star died following a two-car crash near Swinford.

Crowds turned up to St Patrick’s Church in Louisburgh, Mayo on Thursday (July 20) to pay their respects to Ciaran, who was 57 when he passed away.

Pop star Ronan, who also presents BBC’s The One Show, was one of the six pallbearers.

The 46-year-old singer covered his eyes with sunglasses and wore a black suit with a matching tie and white shirt.

Ciaran was on his way to watch his son Ruairi play for Cork Ciry FC in Sligo at the time of the fatal accident.

His wife, Annemarie, was also injured in the crash and was taken to Mayo University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The family said in a statement at the time: “It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Ciaran Keating. Ciaran is predeceased by his beloved mother Marie, father-in-law Kevin, brothers-in-law Colm, Joey and Shane.

“Dearly loved husband of Annemarie, devoted father of Conall, Ruairi and Aisling and adoring grandpa to Bobbi, May, Reggie, Archie T. and Sonnie.

“He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, his father Gerry, mother-in-law Claire, sister Linda, brothers Gerard, Gary and Ronan, daughters-in-law Amilia, and Emily, Aisling’s partner Matthew, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many many friends.

“May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.”

They also shared about Ciaran’s funeral and that if donations are desired they are to be made to the Marie Keating Foundation here, in honour of their late mother.

Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 and passed away two years later aged 51.

The charity confirmed in a statement that as funeral arrangements for Ciaran have been announced, the offices will be closed on Thursday, “as a mark of respect.”.
