Scooby-Doo star unrecognisable after huge career shift following in mum’s footsteps

Scooby-Doo star Freddie Prinze Jr. looks unrecognisable after his huge career shift which saw him follow in his mother’s footsteps.

The 47-year-old was a household name in Hollywood in the 90s and 2000s, starring in hits such as Scooby-Doo and its sequel, as well as She’s All That, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and even had a guest appearance in Friends.

In recent years however he was taken a step back from acting and instead focused his energy on cooking.

In 2016, he released his cookbook, ‘Back to the Kitchen: 75 Delicious, Real Recipes (& True Stories) From a Food-Obsessed Actor’, which proved to be a success.

A year later he told CBS News that cooking was in his blood through his mother.

He said: “My mother worked in restaurants her whole life.

“That’s where she met my father, at a comedy club in Reno, Nevada. She was the chef there.”

Two years later, in 2019, he told The Kitchn: “When I graduated high school my mom encouraged, okay, ‘forced’ me to attend cooking school as a backup plan to my acting ambitions.

“I was all set to go to Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena when I got my first real acting gig — and the rest is history.

“But I never stopped loving good food or cooking.”

Away from the kitchen he is also an avid wrestling fan, having been a writer for the WWE and hosts a podcast called Wrestling With Freddie where he discusses the industry.

His knowledge of wrestling doesn’t end there however, as he also holds a purple belt in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu.
