‘I’m 90 and won’t miss an episode of Love Island – but there’s one part I hate’

The UK’s oldest Love Island fan refuses to miss an episode of the popular ITV2 dating show.

Cathie Tosh, 90, from Dundee, loves the hit reality TV show after she was introduced to it by her granddaughter – and now she watches it every night, including Unseen Bits and Aftersun.

The great-grandmother of three declared she loves watching the show, adding: “I always wonder what’s going to happen next with the couples and if they’ll split up and go with someone else.

“Sometimes I tape it so I can watch it if I think I’m going to miss it – I like to know what’s going on.”

Cathie added that Molly Marsh was her favourite and she wants to see her win, adding that she predicted she would get back with Zachariah Noble in Casa Amor.

She admitted her fondness of the show is because her granddaughter Stephanie Abbott, 33, got her hooked in the reality show and they used to watch it together before she had a baby.

And like many other Love Island fans, Cathie’s favourite part of the show is when drama emerges during Casa Amor – but one thing she hates is the challenges of the recoupling.

She said: “I like it when they split to go to different places and meet other people and you don’t know what’s going to happen – you think ‘maybe she should stay with him’.

“But I hate when they’re really close and then something happens, and they go back to their other partners.”

Cathie loves her evening soaps too, making sure she’s watched them all earlier in the day and tuning into Love Island at 9pm.

Cathie’s daughter, Karen, 66, added: “”It amazes me how it all started with my daughters. They were talking about it and my mum said she has to watch this.

“We all watch it together when we can. She watches everything though including Aftersun and Unseen Bits. She’s young at heart and remarkable for her age.

“She’s more into it than us now!”

Love Island is still airing for just over a week as the countdown to the final is officially on.
