BBC Breakfast star declares ‘that wasn’t in the contract’ after Sally Nugent’s wild claim

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent left her co-star stunned after she made a wild claim on Monday (July 24).

The presenter, 51, sat on the red sofa alongside regular co-host Jon Kay, who returned to the Salford studio after an extended break.

Sharing the top headlines with viewers across the country, Jon noted that the Paris Olympics is only one year away and revealed a new sport will be included.

The high-energy form of street dance, known as breaking, will feature for the first time in history next year.

Sally then handed over to John Maguire who was at a dance school with students demonstrating the sport.

“John Maguire is at a dance school in Manchester this morning having a go! No, I’m only joking, he’s finding out more”.

Letting out a huge sigh of relief, the BBC star responded: “I was going to say that wasn’t in the contract, Sal. “I didn’t agree to that”.

John was stunned by Sally’s claim

Jon and Sally were all smiles as they reunited for the programme’s first instalment of the week following the 53-year-old’s short break to spend time with family.

Announcing the news on social media earlier this month, Jon wrote: “Enjoying some extra sleep and long-planned annual leave with the family, so no need to set my alarm clock tomorrow morning.

During his well-deserved break, the presenter headed to Corsica in the Mediterranean and kept his followers updated with sun-soaked snaps from the trip away.

In Jon’s absence, BBC Breakfast was met with several shake-ups as Ben Thompson stepped in to present alongside Sally.

Jon wasn’t the only regular face missing from the show as Charlie Stayt, who normally hosts alongside Naga Munchetty from Thursday to Saturday, was also missing from the studio last week.
