It seems Greta Gerwig is definitely a Barbie girl, as eagle-eyed fans spotted a swipe at rival franchise Bratz in her new movie starring Margot Robbie.
The flick sees Stereotypical Barbie head out of Barbie Land and into the real world when she starts to experience thoughts of death, and she’s sure she can fix things if she finds the little girl who is playing with her.
Through a series of visions, she hunts down Sasha, a tween at the local middle school.

But Sasha’s unapproachable and surrounded by three of her friends, who bear a striking resemblance to the rest of the core Bratz crew – Jade, Cloe and Yasmin.
One student tries to warn Barbie off approaching the table, telling her that Sasha will more or less tear her apart, which is exactly what she does. Verbally, of course.
Now TikTok user Jess Weslie has taken to her social media to point out the swipe, explaining to viewers: “I don’t know if people caught this reference in the Barbie movie, but there was a reference to Bratz dolls.
“When Margot Robbie goes to the school, she meets these four girls. And as you can see, it’s a Bratz reference right here.”
She added: “A hundred percent Barbie was paying tribute to the Bratz dolls.”
If you still need more proof, Sasha is given the nickname “Bunny Boo” by her mom in the car – which, quel surprise, is Sasha’s nickname in the Bratz universe.
Jade is known as Kool Kat, Cloe is Angel and Yasmin Pretty Princess.
Shocked users turned out in the comments section to share their thoughts, with one chuckling: “This is so funny because the Bratz official account posted a vid of them going to Oppenheimer on opening night!”

Someone else said: “Sasha also didn’t get traditional Barbie clothes when they got to Barbie Land, it was more trendy like the Bratz dolls outfits.”
As somebody else said: “One of the friend’s names was Jade, another Bratz doll’s name.”
