Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien fought back tears whilst paying tribute to her on-screen soap family.
The actress, who plays Sarah Barlow on the ITV soap, was speaking about her co-stars after they took the award for Best Soap Family at the British Soap Awards.
O’Brien first joined the show in her teens and has since appeared on and off during the show for the last 24 years.

But speaking to the Manchester Evening News after the family took the award, the soap star started to get emotional.
She said: “I love Helen [Worth, who plays Gail Platt] and Sue [Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts] so much.

“I started on that show when I was 16 years old and Helen has shown me nothing but love since day one.”
Sarah was first played by Tina in 1999, having first being played by then-babies Leah and Lynsay King in 1987.
The character, alongside other brother Nick, were later adopted by Martin Platt after he tied the knot with Gail in 1991.
Lynsay would stay in the role until O’Brien took over.

And it is safe to say Sarah has faced a number of challenging storylines in her life, from becoming a teen mother at 13 to being attacked by killer Callum Logan and witnessing his death at the hands of sister-in-law Kylie.
Another gripping storyline is now on the cards for the actress after Sarah admitted an affair that left her pregnant with Damon Hay’s child.
In scenes that were aired on Monday night (July 31), Sarah was left humiliated by the news.
She also felt spooked due to husband Adam’s dodgy behaviour, though her uncle Stephen Reid tried to calm her down, explaining that he was planning a surprise gender reveal.

But the family were shocked to learn at the gender reveal that the baby was not Adam’s, when a box Sarah opened led to balloons coming out bearing the words “It’s Damon’s”.
O’Brien later went on to reveal that the on-screen family also has its own group chat, jokingly named “Platt Chat”.
She explained the group chat more after her character Sarah mentioned it on-screen: “It was called ‘Plattz’ but when it came on-screen that we had ‘Platt Chat’ we changed it to reflect what’s on screen.”
