Love Island’s Jess and Sammy snapped kissing as they return to UK with co-stars after win

Love Island’s Jess Harding and Sammy Root put on a cosy display as they touched down in the UK from Mallorca following their huge win.

The couple were crowned champions of the 2023 summer series of Love Island on Monday (July 31), beating favourites Lochan Nowacki and Whitney Adebayo to the top spot.

Arriving at London Stanstead airport, Jess, 22, opted for a skintight playsuit, teaming the baby blue ensemble with a pair of Converse trainers.

The couple were joined by their co-stars – runners-up Whitney and Lochan, third placed Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde and Zachariah Noble and Molly Marsh who finished in fourth place.

The Love Island finalists were greeted by a huge crowd, including their family and friends who raced to reunite with the stars.

Speaking in their first interview after leaving the villa, Sammy admitted it was a “shock to the system” when they were revealed as this year’s winners.

“It feels amazing, it’s hard to have any words for it really but it’s very surreal,” the Kent-born star confessed.

Jess added: “I feel like it was a close call and everyone did so well. To win it is over the moon. Very positive, happy and overwhelmed.”

Sammy went on to say: “Like Jess said, when we were stood up there we looked at everyone and thought they were all worthy to win.

“It was hard to work it out. When our names were called it was a shock to the system, but a nice shock.”

The couple had a tumultuous journey throughout their time on the show, but both agreed they had no regrets about their time in the villa.

The aesthetics practitioner said: “Do you know what, I have no regrets because I am here today. There are situations I could have handled better that I look back on and I’m sure that’s the same for Sammy. It has made us stronger”.

While Sammy added: “For me it’s a case of saying to myself I would be real the whole time. To say I have regrets, no I don’t at all.

“Certain situations could have been better but we were in a different environment and learning how to handle things in that environment.”
