S Club’s Paul Cattermole ‘died with next to no money’ as heartbreaking debt revealed

S Club 7 legend Paul Cattermole sadly died in April this year.

The 46-year-old singer was found dead at his home in Wareham, Dorset, and every new detail emerging all summer regarding the circumstances of his passing have been more heartbreaking than the other.

It now appears that money has been the source of a lot of hurt in the pop star’s life, with Paul already speaking publicly about his financial struggles and wishes for a reunion tour with S Club 7.

In fact, his sad passing came just a few weeks after the band announced their plans for a reunion tour in celebration of their 25th anniversary .

Paul had already told the Guardian that he couldn’t afford a £100 bottle of wine, even at the height of his success.

He explained: “The style and energy that was portrayed was coming from us, entirely. There was no management in that. The actual thing that people were buying into came from us.

“And to see people get hundreds of millions of pounds, and all the credit – no. We created that sort of fun energy on our own, despite the pressure they put on us.”

But according to The Sun, the singer’s money woes ran deeper than most people knew, as Paul, whose band had generated “hundreds of millions” in their hits-producing career, left just £15,000 to his loved ones.

The singer had total holdings of £35,773 — but owed more than £20,000 in debts and bills, and official documents showed that after the deductions, Paul had £15,489 remaining, The Sun reported.

The star reportedly did not leave a will.

A source told The Sun: “Paul was not in a good way before he died, and was not doing well financially.

“Although it is shocking a member of the group would not be well-off, people who knew Paul might not be surprised by how little he left.”

Paul was not the only person of the S Club 7 members – which included Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, and Hannah Spearritt – to struggle financially.

Despite dropping numerous hits ranging from Don’t Stop Movin’ to Bring It All Back, Paul claimed they didn’t earn as much money as they should have, claiming managers bagged more money after the band split in 2003.

Former member Hannah once said in an interview that she earned more than her bandmates, claiming she earned around £ 200,000 a year while they earned £150,000 .

She had bought a house with fellow bandmate Paul while the two were dating, and even appeared in shows such as EastEnders and Casualty.

However, the singer revealed earlier this year that she was homeless after she and her husband and their two daughters were evicted from their home just before Christmas.

Paul’s death certificate, seen by express.co.uk , stated that the late musician died from a “cardiac arrhythmia, acute myocardial ischaemia and severe coronary artery atheroma and intraplaque haemorrhage”.
