Emmerdale fans slam ‘ridiculous’ Laurel storyline as they spot hostage blunder

Emmerdale fans have been left frustrated once again as they spotted what they branded obvious errors during Laurel Thomas’ kidnap horror.

Things were not going well for Laurel on Wednesday night (August 9) when Colin Hamston held her captive in his son Marshall’s bedroom.

Trying her best to reason with Colin, who appeared to be angered by his son’s sexuality, Laurel was also starting to lose hope and lose her cool.

But viewers at home were growing increasingly annoyed by the scenes as they suggested that Laurel could have smashed a window in the bedroom to alert someone of her danger.

Heading over to Twitter, disgruntled fans shared their frustrations.

One viewer wrote: “There’s so many ways she could have got out of there, easy ways, it’s absolutely ridiculous!! Emmerdale seriously you’re insulting us with these pathetic, stupid storylines!!”

Another said: “Come on, Emmerdale, this kidnapping is unrealistic… There is a huge window she can get out of or scream. There are neighbours, haha.”

A third frustrated fan penned: “This is the most stupid storyline just break a window Laurel.”

While a fourth viewer echoed: “This Colin holding Laurel hostage plot is as ridiculous as when Summer in Corrie was held hostage, at least she tried to do something, even if it was whacking the window with a shoe.”

Later on in the programme, Laurel decided to take drastic action by hitting Colin over the head with a bible as they both knelt down in prayer.

But Laurel’s escape plan was futile as she realised the front door was locked when she attempted to open it.

Hiding behind a sofa downstairs, Laurel found the keys for the front door and quickly tried to make a run for it again.

But she was startled when Colin saw her trying to escape.

Near the end of the show, a distraught was seen tied up on Marshall’s bed as Colin locked her in the room once again.

However, fans were unmoved by the action and headed to Twitter once again.

One spectator wrote: “Laurel – even Ebay can supply better bondage than a bit of green garden twine and half a roll of masking tape…”

While another added: “Wow!!! Laurel was tied really tight to that bed she’d never get out of that would she……..I’m sure it’s getting after.”
