There’s a racy tickling documentary previously on Netflix that has proved so disturbing that plenty of fans just can’t watch.
It might seem like a simple, childish thing, tickling. But you might not know there’s actually a whole competitive world out there focused on ‘endurance tickling’.
2016 documentary Tickled concentrates on that very world. Filmed by David Farrier – the New Zealand reporter responsible for the show Dark Tourist – the film begins as a sometimes hilarious, sometimes a little racy, look into the tickling world.

But then things… take a turn.
Partway through, Farrier finds his way into a tickling competition online and begins to uncover the alleged abuse participants reported from their ticklers.
Participants are often tied down for the events and consent is understandably important, but soon some victims are seen subjected to what practically amounts to torture.
And journalist David Farrier is soon the focus of homophobic abuse himself from the company that runs said competitions, Jane O’Brien Media.
There’s more – everything from fraud to identity theft.
Fans have been left truly chilled by the documentary that definitely sways into the true crime genre, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “I was browsing on TikTok and I came across a documentary rec about the industry of ‘competitive endurance tickling’. And I got a little curious. I know it sounds odd and quirky but the more I watched the docu, the weirder and disturbing it got.”

Another fan chimed in: “Something that almost seems like a joke at first reveals itself to be very sinister. An unnerving watch in a time where the internet can be used as a weapon.”
