Strictly contestant reacts to viewer ‘fix’ fury as they say ‘let me clear this up’

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Layton Williams has rubbished claims about his dance background.

The Bad Education actor is one of the contestants for the upcoming new series of the BBC ballroom show, and there has been some chat about him having dance experience and therefore, an advantage.

However, the 28-year-old has now set the record straight in a post on Twitter.

He poured cold water on the whole thing after someone saying they were a dancer claimed that they knew “for a fact” that musicals star Layton “will have studied ballroom and/or Latin to some degree”.

“Lemme clear up this *fact* real quick,” Layton tweeted.

“I had my 1st introduction to Ballroom & Latin class in rehearsals yesterday (along with the rest of the @bbcstrictly cast) and it was so much fun.”

Plenty of fans then weighed in to advise the star to “rise above it”.

“We get this accusation every year with one or two contestants,” one said.

Another tweeted: “Layton if you want to do well on the show you have to stop biting! Ignore it, there’s going to be 15 weeks of gossip and rumours.”

Someone else predicted the actor would “smash it” when he hit the dancefloor.

“Let them troll,” another fan tweeted.

“They don’t know anything about well… ANYTHING.”

“We can’t wait to go along and follow your journey Layton,” said somebody else.
