Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins found it difficult to hold back her tears as she spoke about the loss of her dog, Bailey.
On Friday’s show (August 18) Charlotte and her co-host Adil Ray discussed the illegal act of cropping dogs’ ears, with Adil labelling the procedure as “disgusting”.
But as they focused on the subject of dogs, Adil asked Charlotte, 48, about her recent tragedy, however the star found it difficult to share her story while stating that it often “hits” her hard.

She said: “I got her at four months old when she was just a puppy and she was just the sweetest, loveliest dog.
“She cured a lot of people of fear of dogs, she was one in a million. It’s hit me really hard!”
Adil chimed: “I can imagine!”
Charlotte continued: “And I talk about it and I’m fine but every now and again, I think it’s knowing you’re not gonna have that little patter of paws and the little wagging tail.”
Adil then said: “Well here’s the thing, I think dogs are so special, they don’t leave us they just lay to rest in our hearts.”
Seeing her emotional disposition, fans headed straight to Twitter to share their thoughts on her loss and to share their condolences.
One social media user Tweeted: “Charlotte I am so very sorry you lost your fur baby. My gorgeous black lab was the absolute love of my life! I still have bad days missing him years later.
“They tug at your heart from that first hug when they are just 6 weeks old.Take care.”
While another said: “So sorry for Charlotte’ loss. Our border terrier Bella is 16. Sandy slightly younger.”
Charlotte announced Bailey’s passing on social media a few days ago.
Posting a number of images on Instagram of her beloved pup, she also wrote: “It’s taken a while for me to be able to post this as I can’t believe she’s gone.
“Our beautiful, gorgeous rescue dog Bailey has left us. She brought us so much joy over the last 16 years. One of the family, who was much-loved by all who met her.
“She had such a lovely nature, and helped cure quite a few who had a fear of dogs.
The star added: “She was filmed recently for my @itvtonight documentary, then died just a few days afterwards so that’s the last footage I have of her. She’ll be very much-missed.”
