The nephew of Only Fools and Horses star John Challis has tragically passed away – with his family revealing that his watch was stolen from his body.
The family of the late Only Fools star took to social media on Tuesday (August 22) with a heartbreaking statement in which she explained that Simon’s wristwatch was missing.
John’s wife Carol took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: “Simon’s personal belongings were returned to us today from Germany, at last. Sadly his wristwatch was missing.

“Disappointing that someone should feel the need to help themselves. God bless these two, my much loved husband and his friend, my nephew Si.”

Fans rushed to offer their support in the replies, with one writing: “Despicable that someone would steal from someone’s personal property. Thoughts are with you all x.”
Another commented: “Sorry to hear that. My daughter, husband and children live in Allgau in Germany.”
A third tweeted: “You’ve had your fair share of sadness, but I sure hope that by posting all these photos and memories it brings you happiness.”

A fourth added: “That is so sad that someone could steal such precious belongings from a grieving family. So very sorry you’ve lost your nephew.”
John died from cancer on September 19 2021 at the age of 79 after being diagnosed with the disease in 2019.
Tributes poured in at the time from his Only Fools co-stars such as Sir David Jason (Del Boy), who wrote: “It is with much sadness to hear that John Challis, a dear friend, has passed away.

“He was a wonderful actor, a gentleman in the true sense of the word and I know he will be missed by so many.”
He said that John’s character Boycie was “so well loved by the many fans of that show so I am pleased that he witnessed the outpouring of admiration recently shown for the 40th anniversary of the first episode in 1981.”
He also offered his support to wife Carol, adding: “I send my love and condolences to his wife, Carol..”
John starred in the BBC sitcom from 1981 until 2003 as well as its spin off The Green Green Grass from 2005 until 2009.
