Sunday Brunch in presenter shake-up as Simon Rimmer replaced on Channel 4 show

Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch underwent a major shake-up as presenter Simon Rimmer was missing from the show once again.

During Sunday’s (August 27) episode of the much-loved cooking programme, regular host Tim Lovejoy appeared in the studio as normal, but Simon wasn’t seen in the studio.

Instead, Tim hosted the programme alongside former T4 presenter Miquita Oliver who had stepped in for Rimmer.

But fans at home were left divided by the change and flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan wrote: “Rimmer is off work yet again and has been replaced by that shouty Miquita Oliver.”

Another said: “It’s times like this you realise Rimmer isn’t that bad.”

Meanwhile, a third questioned: “When Tim is off, they replace him with someone else who can’t present, which begs the question why is Mikita there today?”

However, some were very pleased to see Miquita back on their screens.

Offering an opposing view, one viewer said: “Listening to Miquita this morning is transporting me back to the good old T4 days.”

Another echoed: “Love seeing @miquitaoliver on #Sundaybrunch.”

And a third viewer made a controversial statement and wrote: “Simon must absolutely hate these weeks Miquita is on because she’s clearly so much better than him and just shows that there’s no need for him to be on there.”

During the show, Tim let viewers know that Simon was feeling “poorly” and another chef would be taking over in the kitchen.

But as well as sickness, Simon has also experienced family tragedy as he previously announced that his father sadly passed away.

Last month, Simon appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch and spoke fondly of the NHS and the staff members who assisted with his dad’s end of life care.

He said: “Yeah, unfortunately, my dad passed away last Thursday.

“I’ve always, always loved the NHS but every single person that was involved at the end of my dad’s life.

“Not just for him and the care that he got, but us as family, in his final hours. They were just amazing, they could not have been more supportive.

“Just a massive thank you, thank you, thank you, to everybody at Arrowe Park Hospital who really just made my dad’s final hours incredible. They really, really did,” he added.
