Neighbours makes racy major change for new series ahead of streaming premiere

Legendary Aussie soap Neighbours is set to get pulses racing as they unveil new changes ahead of its new series.

The show had initially ended earlier this year, after Network 10 had pulled the plug on the show after 38 years on the airwaves.

But after intense public support for the show, bosses opted to bring the show back, but instead it will be broadcast on Amazon’s streaming service Freevee.

Now as the new series of the show is set to return screens next month, producers have opted to feature some steamy scenes.

Some clips were so racy that an intimacy co-ordinator was roped in to the show for the first time in its history.

Most of the naughty moments on-screen feature Mischa Barton and Xavier Molyneux.

Barton, 37, already has had a taste of the limelight, having shot to fame on drama The OC.

Xavier and Mischa’s characters Byron Stone and Reece Sinclair are set to run into each other at the Lassiters Hotel and waste no time in getting under the sheets.

Speaking about the scenes, Xavier described the scenes as “hot and heavy”, adding that on-screen great-grandmother Nell Mangel would be “rolling in her grave she could see what he gets up to”.

He added that it was a pleasure to work with Mischa, adding the pair were relying on each other to make the scenes work for the show.

Molyneux also said that an “intimacy team” on the soap had helped to create a sexual tension between the characters to build on the chemistry the actors had.

Xavier admitted that bosses wanted the intimacy between the pair to be as real as possible, confessing that usually actors have to resort to “faking it”.

“Hopefully it looks legit on screen,” he said.

“Byron and Reece have a bit of a spark, and they have this romance, which they try to keep to themselves.

“But then they come up against the great Paul Robinson [played by Neighbours staple Stefan Dennis].

He left the outcome to the viewers’ imaginations: “Will they win? You’ll have to wait and see”.
