Botched surgeon was forced to use a saw to remove concrete from patient’s face

Botched surgeon Dr Terry Dubrow once had to cut concrete out of a woman’s face with a saw.

The E! icon spoke exclusively to Daily Star about his wildest case yet and explained the process behind removing the material from under her skin.

Dubrow began: “Whenever I think about the toughest case, the most rewarding, the one that made the biggest impact, I go back to this woman named Rajee.”

“[She] had, you know you can go to these back alley injection places? They inject foreign substances like silicone, materials they get from a plumbing supply store.”

“[Rajee] literally had concrete injected into her face that her body overreacted to. She had two hard concrete tumours everywhere.”

Dr Terry explained that the show originally wasn’t willing to take her on as a patient due to potential complications.

He said: “We turned her down in season two, everyone else turned her down because it was just too dangerous. But, we figured out a way of helping her – we brought her back and we used orthopaedic tools to get the concrete out.”

The situation proved so challenging that the surgeon took the best part of a year trying to figure out how to help her.

Dubrow explained: “It took me about 10 months – I remember waking up at 4 o’clock in the morning with the epiphany: ‘How do get the concrete out without damaging all the nerves, all the tissue and killing the skin?’”

“I thought to myself – if I just take the central portion out with an orthopaedic saw and leave some pieces. As long as it looks normal, your skull is hard in various places, it has edges and mounds.”

Luckily, Terry managed to get out as much concrete as possible and the end result was seriously impressive.

“You can’t tell if it’s skull or if it’s concrete if it looks good. I took her to the operating theatre and did a little bit in her chin first to see if her body would overreact to the operation.”

“She passed the initial test and she did really well.”

Terry also admitted: “One of my most, if not the most, rewarding case I’ve ever done.”
