Holly Willoughby admits it’s been ‘really difficult’ after Phillip Scofield scandal

Holly Willoughby has admitted that it’s been “up and down” for her and This Morning after the Phillip Schofield affair scandal.

This Morning host Holly admitted it’s been a “difficult year” following the departure of her former co-host and pal Phillip.

Phillip sensationally left ITV earlier this year after it was revealed he’d had an affair with a younger male colleague, despite being married to his wife Steph.

But Holly insisted that she feels “very blessed” to be a part of the This Morning team and that everybody looks after eachother.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press at the National Television Awards (NTAs), she said: “If I’m really honest it’s been up and down.

“I think it’s been a really difficult year for everybody but what’s lovely is, you find that people rally around you and the goodwill is there. People want things to move on.

“It all feels different. During Covid, the viewers relied on us to kind of give them help and talk them through it and give that bit of grounding and information. It’s funny now, because I think that’s what’s lovely about This Morning.

“Sometimes it flips the other way, and you walk down here [the red carpet] and it all feels good again.”

Asked about the fate of This Morning, she said: “I’d love to just continue how it is. We are very blessed. We have a great team of people, we really do, and for me personally, I don’t want to speak on behalf of other people, but I look around, I see the team getting in makeup… I just want to come to work and more of that.

“I think we’re set to continue that.”

Asked if it’s made her feel more protective of everybody, she said: “No, I think nothing’s really changed that much, really. We all look after eachother is the honest truth. Everybody looks after eachother. We’re very lucky.”

This Morning was nominated in the Best Daytime Show at the NTAs.
