The Chase returned to screens on Wednesday (September 6) with one rather cheeky player.
Bradley Walsh hosted the show as usual and welcomed four new contestants to the show.
Though a retired bus driver called Pete, 75, took his chance to share his appreciation for one of the quiz pros.
When Bradley asked the Welsh contestant who he would be hoping to face on the episode – he replied with “Jenny, because she’s hot.”
To his dismay, the Dark Destroyer ended up walking down to face him, and he brought some stern back-and-forth banter with him.
The player had revealed he liked to often sing in local pubs and had a likeness for folk music, which Shaun Wallace made a serious-mannered joke out of.
Shaun then did an impression of the payer and sang a tune out loud, and changed the lyrics to fit with the theme of the show and ended his chant with “You’re going home”.
However, Pete took the opportunity to bite back and say “I’m a drinker with a singing problem as well”.
After that backlash, Shaun then offered him a low offer of £1k – which he ended up taking.
Shaun said: “For that cheeky remark, £1k”.
Though viewers at home disliked this – and were frustrated by his choice to go low.
One fan ranted: “Low offer w***er to kick off #thechase”
Whereas one backed his decision and said: “For once the right low offer choice #thechase”
Other viewers also found his job interesting and commented on that online too after he revealed his former career path at the start of the show.
Pete told host Bradley how he used to be a bus driver in LA and his route used to pass many tourist hotspots.
One fan typed: “Pete will be a great asset to the team in the final if there are questions on LA bus routes… #TheChase”
A second added: “Goes to Hollywood to drive a bus [laughing emoji] #TheChase”
