Strictly’s Les Dennis reveals he was unable to get out of bed after first rehearsal

Les Dennis has admitted he struggled to getout of bed after his first Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals.

The 69-year-old actor, who underwent a knee replacement surgery two years ago, got off to a rocky start in preparation for his stint on the BBC dancing show.

It’s all in the hips, as they say, but Les has been having a tough time with “hip action” and has been left nervous after trying to lift himself from under the sheets.

Amanda Holden’s ex explained his objective was to remain in the competition until he reaches his 70th birthday next month.

He said: “I’m 70 this year and I thought why not – it’s a big challenge. It’s the same day as Angela Rippon’s.

Now, approaching the age of 70, the comedian has decided to share details about his past challenges.

Les said: “I was wearing make-up and you can’t go out and you order in Deliveroo and you just eat pizza.

“Wagamama’s was a favourite and it meant that not only was I piling on the pounds, I was not getting any fresh air.“

The Corrie star proceeded to disclose that he had developed laryngitis but expressed gratitude for it, as it served as the “biggest wake-up call” in his life.
