Selena Gomez has gone viral over her reaction to Chris Brown being nominated for an MTV Video Music Award (VMA).
The Come and Get It singer, 31, clearly wasn’t happy with the nominations for the Best R&B category at last night’s awards show as footage from the evening captured her looking less than impressed.
Brown was nominated in the category for his feature on Chlöe’s How Does It Feel, but when his name was read out cameras caught Selena scrunching up her nose in what people have dubbed a “stank face”.

The former Disney star also appeared to deliberately stop applauding for the R&B singer but started clapping again moments later when the next nominees, Yung Bleu and Nicki Minaj, were announced.
Selena has never publicly criticised Brown but back in 2009 he was condemned by many people in the showbiz industry after he admitted to beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna the night before the Grammys.
He pleaded guilty to felony assault after leaving the Umbrella singer bruised and bleeding following the attack.
But the R&B singer’s fans came out to defend him after a clip of Selena’s disgusted reaction to his nomination went viral on Twitter, claiming he deserved the award despite his “mistakes”.
One person wrote: “She can keep that ugly facial expression to herself! Chris brown is very talented regardless of his mistakes! Ppl are human so grow the f***k up”.
Another person Tweeted: “@selenagomez seriously? I know you don’t think you’re better than anyone. Bet u didn’t think camera was in u, did u? @chrisbrown has made mistakes in the past but he’s talented & deserves nomination.”
A third added: “Selena Gomez I love you but making a stank face at Chris brown being nominated for something he deserves, will make me love you less, a lot less. Chill on him and stay in your lane.”
But others applauded the Wolves singer for refusing to show any support for him.
“Selena Gomez being the only one for real in this packed room of hypocrites and not praising Chris Brown’s abusive a**. LOVE HER,” one fan wrote.
A second added: “I thought everyone had forgiven Chris Brown the woman beater. I’m glad Selena Gomez is the only normal one.”
A third agreed, Tweeting: “Miss Selena Gomez ate with this. Weird a** abuser Chris Brown does not deserve any applause.”
Brown ended up losing in the R&B category, with SZA taking home the award for her hit song Shirt.
Selena was nominated for three awards for her collaboration with Rema on Calm Down.
The duo missed out on Song of the Year, which went to Taylor Swift for Anit-Hero, as well as Best Collaboration, won by KAROL G and Shakira for TQG, but did take home the award for Best Afrobeats.
