Phillip Schofield’s This Morning scandal ‘set to be turned into jaw-dropping TV drama’

Phillip Schofield’s dramatic exit from This Morning is reportedly being turned into a TV series.

The storyline is thought to be based on how the former ITV star’s “unwise but not illegal” affair with a young male runner led to his departure from the ITV daytime show earlier this year.

He left the programme in May after 21 years as the main presenter.

The new drama, with the working title The Runner, is now reportedly in the works and will “reflect what went on”.

A source told The Sun: “A production company’s started work and they think the series would be a perfect fit for Channel 4.

“The storyline will reflect what went on. People have seen it from the outside but the drama will give a perspective on what may have occurred behind-closed-doors.

“It could make for uncomfortable viewing for Phil and ITV.”

Phillip had reportedly told his wife Steph at the time that the runner, who later moved to Loose Women, was “just a friend”, whilst the pairs’ two daughters, Molly and Ruby, remained completely in the dark until minutes before his bombshell statement aired.

He left ITV in May as the affair scandal came to light

He wrote at the time: “I am making this statement via the Daily Mail to whom I have already apologised personally for misleading, through my lawyer who I also misled, about a story which they wanted to write about me a few days ago.

“The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on This Morning.

“I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.

“Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.

“That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

After he stepped from from This Morning, his agents YMU dropped him as a client.

ITV later launched an external investigation and it is due ti report back this month.
