ITV pulls Miriam Margolyes segment from This Morning after she breaks show rules

Miriam Margolyes brought This Morning into chaos as she repeatedly broke one of the show’s rules.

The legendary actress and presenter, 82, was hosting the agony aunt section of the ITV show on Wednesday (September 13).

In the phone-in, viewers were calling the programme for advice on dealing with a variety of issues including body confidence and romance problems.

Bosses at the ITV show then brought one caller, Janet, onto the show to let Miriam help her.

In particular, Janet was calling for advice about her ongoing battle with her “nightmare” neighbour next door, who continuously parks on her private property.

Janet begged the activist for advice on whether to park the argument, or take further action.

In true Miriam fashion, she offered honesty and directness to the caller, with no holes barred.

“It’s a problem with neighbours because I think you have to go to them and say ‘I really need to talk to you about this because my health is being affected.

‘I’m not happy and that’s not fair is it?’,” she explained.

Miriam then broke the golden rule of morning television as she uttered: “And then if they’re still like that, throw s**t over the walls.”

This Morning’s hosts Josie Gibson and Holly Willoughby were left aghast at Miriam’s idea and promptly apologised for Miriam’s bad language and also urged viewers not to resort to vandalism to sort the issue.

Earlier in the segment, Miriam was helping a caller who was feeling unloved by her partner, with the caller adding that her partner would stay on his phone the whole time, ignoring her and her kids.

Margolyes then gave the caller some unorthodox guidance – to strip naked and “show him what she’s got”. She also told her to hit out at her partner to put the “f***ing phone away”.

Despite having mouthed the swear word, host Holly was quick to pick up on Miriam’s issue and apologised for the use of foul language.

However, Miriam stood her ground and insisted she only mouthed the word and did not say it.

Following the controversial segment, ITV bosses opted to take the part of the show out of the re-broadcast shown on ITV1+1.

Where the part would have been aired, a title card was shown saying: “We’ll be back soon. We are temporarily unable to bring you our +1 service. We will resume shortly.”

This is not the first time this week that Miriam’s potty mouth got her into hot water.

Earlier in the week, she branded herself an “old dyke”, which left Holly grimacing and apologising for Miriam’s faux pas, which she quickly changed to “elderly lesbian”.
