Emmerdale fans believe a romance could be blossoming between Victoria and Jacob and that this could lead to David’s exit.
During Monday’s episode (September 17) of the ITV soap, Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) was rushed to hospital after suffering a severe allergic reaction.
Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) was devastated when she realised it was her fault after incorrectly telling Jacob that the food he was about to eat didn’t contain nuts.

In Tuesday’s instalment (September 19), Victoria learned that Jacob was recovering and went to visit him in hospital.
While there, Jacob held onto Victoria’s hands and admitted he was glad she was there, staring into her eyes.
Now, fans have speculated that an affair could start between David’s (Matthew Wolfenden) ex girlfriend and his son, leading to his exit. One person wrote: “Prediction. Jacob and Victoria have an affair. David finds out, leaves the village.”
A second added: “wtf?! Vic & Jacob? where TF did that come from? can’t wait to see Leyla’s reaction when she finds out. is Jacob’s feelings for Vic the reason for David leaving?” Another viewer speculated: “Ohhh Jacob wants the older woman….again Is this David’s leaving story.”
A fourth theorised: “Jacob’s falling for Victoria now too didn’t see that coming… wonder if this is why David leaves”. It comes after Joe, who has played the role of Jacob since 2010, teased a romance could be on the cards for his character.
“I think there’s possibly going to be a romance on the cards. It’s been a while since he’s had a girlfriend so it’s due,” the soap star said. “He’ll be sticking with his university work and wants to become that doctor, so he’s focusing on that. He’s just trying to enjoy life, he’s been cooped up for too long playing video games so he’s going to get out and explore some relationships.”

It was announced in August that Matthew, 43, had quit the role of David after 17 years. The actor told friends that he’s “bored” with the plotlines he’s been given in recent months. A TV source told The Sun that he wants to “see what else is out there” after “not getting any gritty storylines”.
They added: “He’s excited about the opportunities available. He’s only just announced he is leaving so scriptwriters are working out his on-screen exit. It’s possible David could be killed off.”
