One big thread that has dominated theories is the cufflinks worn by the mystery man at the time of the death, with the item passing around a number of characters in recent months.

During a recent visit to Walford, as Phil Mitchell prepared to tie the knot with Kat Slater, a surprising turn of events unfolded. Phil received the very same cufflinks, which originally belonged to Nish Panesar, from his friend Jack Branning. Jack, in turn, had won them in a poker game against Rocky Cotton, who had decided to part with the item.

Jack held onto the cufflinks until Phil’s wedding day when he bestowed them upon the groom. As Jack handed over the cufflinks, he cautioned Phil, saying: “Take care of these; they’re Nish’s, so probably expensive.” Phil replied with a jest: “Cheers! Lost mine in a ruck, I think,” prompting a nod of concern from Jack. Sharon later walked in and praised Phil for his choice of cufflinks, adding to the mystery.

With Phil now in possession of the cufflinks, fans have taken to social media to share their theories about the new development, with many wondering whether Phil will still have the cufflinks by the time Christmas rolls around. One fan said: “Anybody else realize Phil’s cufflinks, which belong to Nish, are the same ones from the flash-forward scene?”

Another viewer chimed in, saying: “The cufflinks are on the move. No way they’re staying with Phil til Christmas. #eastenders.” A third penned: “No! Get those cufflinks off of him! THIS IS NOT HOW IT ENDS!!! Meanwhile, Suki Panesar actress Balvinder Sopal recently praised the storyline, saying: “The fact that EastEnders is matching Suki up with other members of the Walford community as part of ‘The Six’ is absolutely brilliant, and the fact they are all women is amazing.

“It bumps up that sisterhood feeling, and it puts powerful women at the forefront of storytelling about connection, friendship and love. “I think it’s really important to see strong bonds between these women where they can support and help each other through difficult times.”
