Geordie Shore cast slapped with alcohol limit after two stars left in hospital

From Cancun to Magaluf and even nights in Newcastle drinking vodka Lemonades and Smirnoff ice, the Geordie Shore crew have put back a serious amount of alcohol, but it wasn’t until series 17 on the Gold Coast in Australia that a drinking limit was finally implemented.

That’s right, Charlotte Crosby smashing up the entire house in a jealousy-fuelled rage at Gaz Beadle, Aaron Chalmers putting his fist through the phone box and Chloe Ferry urinating all over the floor wasn’t enough to cause concern. But after chucking some Aussies into the mix, the producers were forced to act.

With the show constantly needing to evolve in a bid to maintain interest, the creators are always looking for fresh ideas to reinvent the format. And what better way than to add a load of alcohol-loving party animals from the Southern Hemisphere?

Trips to the emergency room aren’t uncommon in Geordie Shore – hardcore fans may remember James Tindale breaking his leg after losing a wrestling match to James Gardner in Mexico in series three. But it took a cast member turning into a “zombie” for MTV to finally act.

Nathan Henry is a Geordie Shore legend

During an appearance on Love Island star Chloe Burrows’ podcast Chloe vs The World, Geordie Shore icon Nathan Henry revealed why the cast has to adhere to strict drinking limits. He said: “After the Australian series, we got capped on our drink because two of them put themselves in hospital.”

Host Chloe gasped: “No, who put themselves in the hospital?” Nathan replied: “Two of the Australians. They didn’t drink an astounding amount, but they drank quite a bit and put themselves in hospital.”

Noticing Chloe’s appalled expression, the northern TV legend tried to reassure her, before making things a whole lot worse. He panicked: “Not badly. One of them thought they were a zombie and he was biting people. The other, I don’t know if she got her stomach pumped.”

Chloe interrupted: “And they just had alcohol on that one?” To which a perplexed Nathan fired back, “Yeh, obviously; what do you mean by that?”

The Love Islander laughed: “I’ve never drunk so much alcohol that I think I’m a zombie.” Explaining the science of the situation, Nathan claimed that Australians simply don’t have the same capability to handle their alcohol as the Brits.

He asserted: “They’re babies, man; they can’t drink properly; they’re not built from the same cloth as us.” However, with Aussies generally renowned for their borderline inhumane ability to consume an incredible amount of alcohol, Chloe couldn’t quite get her head around his comments, saying: “Australians literally drink pints.”

Realising his comments may offend an entire country, Nathan panicked. Having already appeared on Warsaw Shore in Poland, he saidhe’d like to further his career by becoming a mainstay of Australian TV, possibly appearing on Married at First Sight.

He said: “I shouldn’t say that, as I’ve got loads of Australian friends now.” Reassuring her guest, Chloe added: “It’s all fun and games, this isn’t a serious podcast, everything with a pinch of salt.”
