BBC’s Alex Jones stumbles words in live blunder before tutting on The One Show

TV favourite Alex Jones was left tutting at herself when she stumbled over her words during a live blunder on The One Show.

The hit BBC show returned for another instalment on Thursday evening (September 21) with Alex and Roman Kemp back at the helm. But things took an awkward turn when Alex stumbled over her words while reading the autocue.

“It’s time to put another inspirational personal in the spotlight in this week’s One Big Thank You,” Roman began. He added: “And tonight it’s all about scout leader Sharmine.”

Alex then chimed in, but appeared to stumble over her words. She said: “Anyone who,” before getting lost reading the auto-cue.

Alex was left red-faced after her blunder

Realising her blunder, Roman turned to check on his co-host who tutted over the error. She then read it out correctly and said: “Anyone who has children knows what important role models they are and Sharmine is no exception.”

During the segment, survival expert Bear Grylls transformed himself to surprise Sharmine, as a way of saying thank you for all her hard work in the Scouts. And it’s fair to say she was left stunned to see him.

Alex quickly corrected herself like a pro

Also joining Alex and Roman on the famous sofa was Strictly star Johannes Radebe and his celeb partner Annabel Croft. The pair are getting ready for their live dancing debut this Saturday night (September 23).

Annabel’s Strictly stint comes after her heartbreak when her husband Mel Coleman sadly died just weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer. The former professional tennis player turned presenter married Mel back in 1992 as she retired from the sport before her broadcasting career.

Mel had complained of stomach pains before being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, with Croft saying in a statement following his passing: “My beloved husband Mel passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning after a short battle with cancer.” The sports and Tv star then added: “My family and I are completely heartbroken and ask for privacy at this very sad time.”
